Taking its title from a period of nine and a half years spent in an unfulfilling job, the 9.5 series uses abstract composition to address routine, endurance, and the passage of time. The pastels feature heavily scratched, layered surfaces and dense dark tones, translating the repetitive nature of institutional labor into physical textures on canvas.
